For the first time in its history, Bulgaria presented a national pavilion at Fuorisalone during Milan Design Week, one of the world’s most influential platforms for contemporary design.

The exhibition brings together established and emerging Bulgarian designers working across furniture, installation, photography, and conceptual design – KV Design, Nikyoto (Nikol Andonova), Mariela Ganova, LIGNA x OURHOOD, Atanas Zgurev, Tsvetan Petkov, Gabriel Best, Room Studio and Marta Moskova.

LIGNA x OURHOOD present a collaborative human-driven installation combining solid wood and mirrors. The work explores the relationship between material, human presence, and space through tactile interaction. The installation is accompanied by music design from Krasi Todorov and a voice performance by Victoria Georgieva, creating an immersive sonic narrative inspired by the creative process.

Bergamo, Italy

This year’s last edition of the Career and Life Forum “Why Bulgaria?” took place on December 7 at the John Twenty-Third Congress Centre in Bergamo, Northern Italy.

There are currently over 1,500 innovative start-up companies in Bulgaria, explained Nutsov. In his words, Sofia is not only a leader in Bulgaria, but also in the Balkans. Against this background, Bulgaria has a great infrastructure that supports the Bulgarian entrepreneurial ecosystem, Nutsov pointed out. In Bulgaria I found identity and love, he said.

During the lecture part of the forum two entrepreneurial panels took place. In the first one on the topic “The Way Back. Bulgaria, where career and home have a future” spoke representatives of the companies Ligna and Huvepharma, as well as a representative of the Ministry of Economy and Industry.

Genoveva Hristova from Ligna pointed out that no one should leave Bulgaria by force. “We have made from Bulgaria a global company. My dream was to make a hotel in Milan. We did it last year,” she noted.

Interior designer Elena Mustakova said she returned to Bulgaria because “there was a root that pulled me.”

“I am an interior designer and I saw that there was a niche in Bulgaria. You are appreciated in Bulgaria,” she said.

On November 28, 2024 In Sofia Hotel Balkan, the solemn celebration “50 years of the Faculty of Forestry” (FGP) at the Forestry University (LTU) was held. More than 300 guests, current and former students, teachers and employees, dean’s management of all faculties, partners, sponsors, directors of vocational high schools and others were present. Ligna Group supported the event and we have a few employees that are graduates of this faculty.

“Manager of the Year” presents and awards great personalities in business – the people who create quality products, provide jobs, implement new technologies and apply the highest standards.

For the third consecutive year, the competition has expanded its scope with four additional categories. The evaluation methodology of all companies that submitted applications also goes through a selection according to a special methodology in three stages. The evaluation of all applied companies is carried out by “Deloitte Bulgaria”.

The winner in the “Business in the first 20 million” category is “Ligna Group”. The award was received by the managing director Genoveva Hristova, and the statuette was presented by the managing director of “Metro Reklama” Zarina Gencheva.

The event was organized for the second time in the English capital, and among its speakers were Ivet Lalova, Dimitar Rachkov, Momchil Vasilev and some of the most successful Bulgarian entrepreneurs and managers from leading companies.

As an international expert in cluster development and Chairman of the Bulgarian Furniture Cluster, Genoveva Christova shared her remarkable personal story. In addition to being co-owner and managing director of Ligna Group and Missia23, she is also the music producer behind Viktoria Georgieva’s Eurovision successes in 2020 and 2021.

Honored to be recognized with this prestigious interior design award in the industry for hospitality at the Dibla Design Award 2023 for our project Oborishte 63 Art Boutique Hotel.

Oborishte 63 is not the usual hotel design project. Its cultural and physical context naturally extended into the design concept we used for its renovation. Genius loci – a spirit of a place: the approach and philosophy that allowed this renovation to become a one-of-a-kind experience. The Lobby Bar, designed with organic shapes, depth and timeless materials, hosts rotating exhibitions of young, contemporary artists. Each of the 9 rooms is based on an emblematic Bulgarian artist’s work and is named after it.

We are honored to announce that our project Oborishte 63 Hotel is golden winner at MUSE Design Award 2024 for hospitality and resorts.

Oborishte 63 transcends the ordinary realm of hotel design—it’s a testament to the seamless integration of cultural and physical context into a truly exceptional renovation. Guided by the spirit of the place, or genius loci, our approach and philosophy have crafted an unparalleled experience.
